Why Marine Collagen? – Scientific benefits
A comprehensive review published in the journal Marine Drugs (Lim et al., 2019) highlights several specific advantages of marine collagen:

• Excellent absorption: Due to their low molecular weight and high water solubility, marine collagen peptides are rapidly and efficiently absorbed through the intestinal tract.
• Safety profile: Marine sources are free from the potential animal health risks associated with mammalian collagen sources (such as pork or beef), making them a clean alternative.
• Chemical stability: Research confirms the excellent stability of marine collagen, making it a reliable raw material for supporting human tissues.

For athletes – supporting the “passive” skeletal system
While whey protein primarily supports muscle building, the active components of Scitec Nutrition Marine Collagen focus on the body’s structural framework.

Structural integrity: Protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, while vitamin C supports normal cartilage function. This combination is especially important for individuals who place long-term physical stress on joints and ligaments.
Completing a mixed diet: Collagen replenishes specific amino acids (such as proline and hydroxyproline) that are present in smaller amounts in conventional meat- or dairy-based diets, complementing the athlete’s nutritional intake.

Gastrointestinal health and modern lifestyle
Fast-paced lifestyles and highly processed foods can place additional stress on digestion and metabolism.

Digestive comfort: The hydrolysed (pre-digested) collagen formula is gentle on the stomach and passes easily through the intestinal tract. Due to its natural amino acid profile—particularly glycine and glutamine—collagen is frequently referenced in the literature as a nutrient that supports intestinal wall integrity.
Metabolic balance: Being sugar-free, the product does not cause fluctuations in blood sugar levels.

Regeneration and rest – the role of glycine
Fish collagen is naturally rich in glycine, a key structural amino acid of collagen. Although the primary purpose of the product is tissue support, scientific literature (Yamadera et al., 2007) also examines glycine’s role in calming the nervous system and improving sleep quality. For this reason, collagen-type protein can be an excellent option for evening consumption, supporting night-time regeneration without burdening digestion.

Who do we recommend it for?
• Individuals with an active lifestyle, to support joints, cartilage and bones.
• Beauty-focused users (women and men), as vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation in the skin and supports firmness.
• Older adults, to help compensate for the age-related decline in collagen production and support bone health.
• People with sensitive digestion, who value easy digestibility and products free from gluten and lactose.

EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) authorised claims
Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation and, through this, to the maintenance of normal cartilage, bones, blood vessels, gums and skin, as well as to the normal functioning of the nervous system.
Protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and muscle mass.
